My scholarship has helped me to attend my dream college, Creighton University. It has the perfect people with the perfect rigor and the perfect classes to help me achieve the degree I want. Without my Pepsi ExCEL Scholarship, attending a private, four-year college wouldn't have been possible. I am a twin, so paying for two college educations at once is more than a challenge. I can't thank the Pepsico Foundation enough for the gift they have given me. The gift of education is a gift that will last a lifetime.

This scholarship made my dreams of going to college possible. My family does not make a lot of money, and I was dreading having to take out loans and get a job while I was in college. But, thanks to this scholarship, I can focus on learning and keep my mind where it belongs: on school. Read More>

I firmly believe that everybody should have the possibility of receiving a good education. Unfortunately, not all of us have the same possibilities, whether because of economic conditions or family background. That's why I highly appreciate the existence of generous organizations that provide access to a university for students who want to learn something new and extend their views and future prospects. Money should not hinder anyone from receiving the education they wish for, and this program proves that if there is a will, there is a way -- if we are prepared to follow our dreams at any rate, almost everything is possible. The PepsiCo Excel Scholarship program allows young men and women to have the ability to go to their dream school. In my case, Villanova University -- a top school that came with a top price tag -- became a reality for me. The school has a great reputation of community between teachers and students, as well as being a top national engineering program. With this scholarship, such a great school became affordable for my parents and myself. I will be majoring in computer engineering, and I have met the faculty and spoken to some of the professors. This has been my dream school for as long as I could remember, and my parents, myself, as well as my brother were thrilled that the PepsiCo Foundation opened up such a window of opportunity for me. Eighteen years ago my parents emigrated from the Philippines to the United States so our family could have the opportunity for a better life. Ever since then my parents have worked hard so that my sister and I would not have to struggle as they did when they were growing up. My family has sacrificed a lot to get where we are now, and I know that I am truly blessed to be so fortunate. My parents' determination for a better life is one of the many inspirations for me to go to college. Read More>

After going to college in the Twin Cities my freshman year, it became clear that, in order to get the training I needed for my chosen career, my best option was to go to Hillsong International Leadership College in Sydney, Australia. Even though the tuition at HILC is significantly lower than my school, they don't give out scholarships or loans, so I wasn't sure how I was going to swing my tuition payments as well as my living expenses. At the beginning of the year, I was accepted into, and chose to attend Azusa Pacific University. Although I was accepted into many other universities, Azusa stood out to me for its amazing community and motto of "God First." I knew from the first step onto Azusa's campus that it was the school for me. Azusa was a university that does not only offer an exceptional education, but also spiritual guidance as well as I seek to grow closer to God. The biggest obstacle I faced in attending this dream school was the $36,000 tuition. I was determined to pay for school without having the financial burden of loans hanging over my head, and adamantly worked on scholarships all throughout my senior year; receiving the Mary Jo and Dick Kovacevich Scholarship was truly a financial blessing to me.
